infrastructure regularly works with up-and-coming artists on cover artwork. respected young swiss artist julian charriere provided the iconic greyscale cover for post scriptum s debut lp (inf-020), and london based photographer guy archard s work featured on campbell irvine s reunion of two bodies maxi-ep (inf-018). now the celebrated british fine-artist robert ncnally has been invited to submit original artwork for facticity. selected by jake and dinos chapman to show work at the prestigious flowers gallery in london, and commissioned by damien hurst to provide work for his private collection, robert s incredibly detailed large scale pencil drawings are attracting serious interest in the modern art world. mcnally s cover image was selected from a series of works based on adapted antique post cards. its anti-establishment, censorship-related overtones are clear to see, as is the stark use of contrast - thick layers obscure the fading original, re-appropriating it. setting the tone for this carefully compiled collection of new music, rich in subtexts and sub-genres, a special edition print of the cover artwork will be included in the first 500 copies of facticity.

sebastian mullaert is of course first of all known as half of minilogue, a duo so influential in the hypnotic field of techno that korg recently named a synthesizer after them. lately, sebastian has focused on his solo path under the wa wu we moniker, releasing stripped back and personal music on his own wa wu we label, the cryptic s.e.l.f label and now on kontra-musik. on the title track travellers, sebastian mullaert uses a straight up techno formula that may surprise listeners who haven t followed his move into wa wu we territory. you almost get the impression sebastian buried a recording destined for a rigid techno label in a deep forest back in the 90 s and has now decided to uncover it again, finding that the track has matured under the black soil.

tzusing returns to l.i.e.s. with his third and (final?) name out of place ep after two now sought after percusors leading up to this one. again we are not disappointed as the massive opener face of electric hits hard taking a typical breakbeat formula and adding some sort of bizarre ritualistic element like the zulu nation or george kranz in a ceremony at a steel factory. emotional eater slows the tempo down, but again the machines grind hard with tinges of acid, heavy rhythms and sparse vocals moving in and out, while the closer r is a stripped down beater made for mixing. top stuff from the in demand producer.

the find of the year? hidden amongst the master tapes for that roberta flack song written by stevie was stevie s own guide vocal, never heard of until now.. not just a basic guide vocal, but a full on, passionate stevie performance that makes this sound like a long lost stevie classic, overshadowing roberta s sweet vocal delivery, taking this soul masterpiece to new heights. with stevie on drums and keys also, the master at the top of his game. on the flip side, a classy slice of philly disco, reflexed without the rather dated and cheesy linda clifford song, focusing on the killer grooves and morphing it into a horn / guitar riff laden track, hands in the air style!

you can always trust ludovic llorca. once a year he locks himself in his studio and works the magic which results in a local talk release. his previous releases on local talk, the same thing (classic proto housemeets-baggy us garage vibe) the rainbow song (it sounds like an underground summer anthem in waiting) are lt classics and now, ludo returns with a third release, i just can t ep. while some producers struggle with new ideas, trying to re-invent the genre, ludo sticks to what he knows best. strings and chords combined with a thick and squelchy bass is the foundation of the title track while on the flip, dirty stories, is as hypnotic as it is jackin, in fact, both tracks are so irresistible you d start wondering if ludo stole them from a snake charmer.

for several years now, the void* (pronounced: the void pointers) have been developing their own sound idiom at the cutting edge of ambient, live electronics, drones and post-rock. the trio, consisting of roald dillewijn, eric magnee and tijs ham, chooses to build their own instruments to accomplish this. both the coding of software and hardware tinkering are used to knead their sonic universe. values is released by three(!) collaborating record labels from the netherlands: lomechanik, esc.rec. and shipwrec. this album fits seamlessly into the catalogues of all three labels. both musically and aesthetically, because the packaging of this 12” vinyl is stunningly beautiful, as usual.

london-based mike misiu has had a handful of stellar yet secret releases under his belt, and now this squirrel is finally getting his nut with his rnt debut! the a side launches into a churning and chugging rendition of a donald byrd 70s jazz soul classic, followed by a cheekily infectious treatment of well-loved modern themes, while the flip kicks into high gear with two uptempo soulful stompers.

nycs legendary sam records dropped the mysteriously named k.i.d.s dont stop- in 1981. it has it all trancey arpeggios, vocoders & vocals trading off with each other, brass & some heavyweight disco drums that helped propel it forth into the hallowed category of club classic. the record perfectly suited the open minds and open ears of discerning disc jocks in locales such as new york and chicago where this sublime piece of electronic disco sleaze would get plenty burn on the city s infamous wbmx thus having a huge impact, along with a whole host of other similar records, on the burgeoning house scene that was germinating in the fertile mid western soil. b-side cut do it again is a pleasant enough early 80 s disco jam, but compared to the futuristic burner that is dont stop on the other side theres one clear winner. a must have for all cosmic, disco, funk aficionados. now made available again, legitimately licensed, remastered and reissued in conjunction with sam records new york city.

tippa lee’s new album cultural ambassador will be released on stones throw, may 20, 2016. available now is the dub version of the album, dub them with reality, mixed by producer tom chasteen (dub club, natural numbers), who has reconfigured the tracks live on the mixing board with echo, reverb and various arcane electronics. the lp covers, in two variations, were screen printed in gold and black by hit & run, with artwork by ellen g. tippa lee was born and raised in kingston, jamaica. he started performing on his fathers sound system as a child, standing up on a beer bottle box to reach the mic. he made his first recordings at king tubby’s studio at the age of 12. eventually he teamed up with rappa robert and as a duo had a number of hits including “no trouble we”, an anthemic statement against police harassment, which was a number one jamaican hit in 1988 and is still played often on jamaican radio. in more recent years he has been based in the us, performing live and releasing his own underground cds.

those familiar with the world of dub disco and modern balearica should know all about layne fox, a san francisco-based producer who has released some killer records over the last decade as part of noted collective 40 thieves. the bay area ensemble has been responsible for some killer records, including gems on rong music and leng, who released their expansive debut album the sky is yours back in 2014. now, fox has decided to go it alone for an outing on magic feet that marks his first solo outing since 2005 s move me under the tuffy alias. its something of a gem, too, effortlessly combining many of his familiar influences with nods towards druggy italo-disco and horizontal pop.

mindtrip presents mt13, which sees another young argentinan talent - farceb - making his mindtrip debut. farceb is a producer whos been pricking ears over the last couple of years with strong releases on labels such as arts, orioni and circular limited. he now joins pfirters imprint with his superb signals from space ep. exoplanet war sets things in motion and is a stylish, entrancing tune, which, if it wasnt for its intrinsic energy and power - would border on the somniferous. next up is signals from space, a tough, brutal and percussive workout, punctuated by dark, organic synth stabs. this track builds and rolls along in a way dancefloors will love. unknown shadow is a powerful, stripped down merciless lump of peak-time techno which cleverly blends atmosphere and hard hitting percussion. the final track - the superb hyperion, is a 6 minute, deadly exercise in pushing intensity and tension to (and sometimes beyond) commonsensical limits. this is mindtrip music!

originally released in a limited edition of 500 copies in 1982 monoton’s second album ‘monotonprodukt 07’ is now a collector item and also one of the most important album of all-time. it has been voted one of the 100 best records by highly influential uk magazine the wire. monoton was founded in 1979 by hypermedia wizard konrad becker as an art project that underwent various transformations and collaborations in its exploration of psycho-active sound. a pioneer in experimental electronic music, becker continued to break new ground in electronic media. monotonprodukt 07 has been reissued on vinyl by desire (and is still available as a double picture-discs limited to 500 copies. it’s the first time ever that tracks from the album are remixed and desire is proud to had such great artists/producers as us prositutes, svengalighost with fellow partner and l.i.e.s. boss and hospital productions artist ron morelli. the last remix is the work of great mancunian duo rainer veil (modern love). an incredible remix package that do justice to this classic album ! mastered by matt colton at alchemy.

viva erotica has been a gabba-beat chamber orchestra, a facebook sculpture, a youporn recycling machine and is now becoming a piece of wax (a record). four tracks are furious comments on the downfall of club music - the bassdrum as a weapon against the bassdrum - the other four want to forgive and forget. 2015 was the year of about-face. each of the 330 records has a cutout from a coffee-table book plastered on the front.
